Greer: Our designer Lauren is married!! BEST. DAY. EVER. Lauren and Chris celebrated their special day in the sunshine at Mudbrick Vineyard on Waiheke Island.

Lauren designed her wedding gown with her bridesmaid and talented custom wedding gown designer Jacque Shaw Bridal. Lauren’s bridesmaids all wore new styles from the Leave Her Wilder Reverìe collection and paired them with Bertie Bags filled with baby Moët bottles, a Curio Noir fragrance, and and posy bouquets...cause every bridesmaid needs 2 bouquets!

We are so excited to share some more pictures from Lauren & Chris’ AMAZING wedding day!

Can we do it again, please?!

xx

Lauren: Yes! Let’s do it all again, happy to relive it forever!!

Greer: I’m obsessed with the pictures Danelle took, she really did capture the day so perfectly!

Lauren: Absolutely! Danelle’s pictures are sensational, we could not be happier with how they turned out, she was an absolute joy to have around on the day too, which was an added bonus!

We had a basket of disposable cameras at the wedding for guests, so while we waited to get the professional images back we got the films developed. I always have a disposable in my handbag, I love how they turn out - it was definitely fun to look through the images while we were on our minimoon in Matapouri. Seeing the day from our friends & family’s eyes was so cool, some of the kids even did their own photoshoot in the paddock!

Greer: The entire wedding aesthetic was to die for, can you run us through your inspo?

Lauren: Something really important to me was to include the people closest to us . We have so many amazingly talented friends, and it was so special to work with them on details to make our day perfect for us.

My friend Delia designed all the stationary, and signage. Working with her on the colour palette and shapes was the initial inspiration behind the whole aesthetic of the day, from there it stemmed to floral inspo and colour palette.

Greer: Favourite details from the day?

Lauren: The small details of the wedding day were some of my favourite bits to plan. I had always been in love with the Prada Crystal heels from their 2010 runway show, and when lockdown hit I decided to forgo the Banana Bread baking, and craft my own pair of shoes. They are absolutely full on, but I couldn’t be happier with how they turned out!

Also the Bertie Bag! I wanted to gift each of my bridesmaids a little handbag they could wear on the wedding day, but I really struggled to find something I liked. So, the Bertie Bag was born! Each bridesmaid got a Bertie Bag in the same colour as their gown, and inside there was a baby bottle of Moet, a love note from me, and a fragrance from Curio Noir. I chose each scent by considering what each bridesmaid would like, suit, and which notes reminded me of them the most

Greer: OK, talk us through your day!! We want all the details, please!

Lauren: I chose a Spell robe to wear while I was getting ready, and paired it with Leave Her Wilder Rosa Robes for my bridesmaids. They all looked like literal angels, and Lucy has sworn to never take it off, so that’s always a good sign.

Having Brooke Mann (Hare & Hunter) and Rebekah Banks (Makeup) there on the wedding morning felt like having two extra girlfriends there, it was such a fun day even before the wedding started!

We listened to the playlist from my Hen’s Party for vibes, drank bubbles from the vintage champgane coupes my bridesmaid Jacque has gifted me that morning, and lounged in our robes around the stunning Villa we were staying

Chloe Le Fleur did the florals for the day, and my heart skipped a beat when I saw the setup as I walked down the aisle. It was so special to see how it all came together. We wanted soft pinks and honey tones, for a super romantic, summery aesthetic and it couldn’t have been more perfect at Mudbrick.

My sister Jacqui got her Celebrants license so she could marry us, and it was the best thing ever!!

Walking down the aisle to see two of my absolute favourite people at the other end made me so much less nervous, and more excited!

My bridesmaids and I walked down the aisle to “Make Way For Love” by Marlon Williams. A tear jerker in all the best ways. Chris and I have been to a few of Marlon’s gigs together, and it’s one of our favourite records to play together at home.

I must say walking back down the aisle together as husband and wife was one of my favourite moments, T.Rex’s ‘Hot Love’ was playing loudly, and I just felt all the love and celebration around us; if only you could bottle that feeling!

When Greer and I started designing the Reverie collection, we knew it would include the gowns my bridesmaids would wear. We initially had a fitting with the girls in our current pieces, and chatted to them about what silhouettes, colours and shapes they would want to wear. From there, we started the designing process.

I love when bridal parties are tonal in colour but not exactly the same. Every girl is different, and I wanted them to feel like themselves, in colours that suited them and they would wear again!

Chris had his suit made at Crane Brothers, in the most gorgeous light tan colour. The groomsmen had similar colour chinos made, and a white shirt also from Crane Brothers. They looked so summery, and handsome! The colours all lined up give me European Summer Wedding vibes, which was the idea!

I always knew I was going to design my own wedding dress. Before designing at Leave Her Wilder, I was designing bridal gowns and I’ve always loved it.

My gorgeous friend Jacque has started doing custom gowns, so it was a match made in bridal heaven. After designing the gown, Jacque and I worked together on fabrics, fit and everything in between. I had my grandmothers wedding dress I wanted to incorporate, and Jacque went over and above to make this possible. We also made a pocket square for Chris, and a Handkerchief for Mum out of Nana’s Silk, embroidered with our initials and wedding date. Working with Jacque on my dress was such a special time, I can highly recommend weekly fittings followed by dinner and drinks with one of your soul sisters. It’s the way to do it, ladies!

My bridesmaid Lucy is an incredible Choreographer. Chris and I were so honoured when she agreed to choreograph our first dance as husband and wife. We practised the night before, and the experience of learning it with Lucy will remain such a special memory to us both.

Our first dance was to “The Ship Song” by Nick Cave. There’s always a Nick Cave record on at our house, and his songs on our playlists, The Ship Song has always been our song, so there was no real question of what we were going to dance to.

I love this photo Danelle took of us during our dance, there’s so much else going on but we’re in o own little world and that’s exactly how the moment felt. We are so lucky that Danelle photographed our wedding day, her photos are so romantic, but also feel very natural and capture the moment as it happens

Greer: Anything else you’d like to mention?

Lauren: I think thats it! As cliche as it sounds, it really just the best day. Being surrounded by the people you love the most is so special, it’s truly hard to describe. Sadly, not everyone we love could be there due to travel restrictions to NZ, but we had a live stream and it was so lovely to know they were there in some way.

Happy days!
