Madison & Joey
Where do you live: Long Island, NY (Blue Point, NY)
How you met: Through friends and over drinks :)
Marriage to us means:
A lifetime of never deciding where to eat for dinner haha kidding - marriage to us means you have a connection and bond with somebody you’ll never have again, you feel entirely safe and true to yourself with that other person. It’s a bond between two people that is truly based around being yourself and the other one loving you unconditionally.
Talk us through the proposal?
We had the most beautiful trip planned to Croatia and Italy in the summer of 2018. We were traveling to Rome from Croatia and were spending a few days with my parents who were there with us. We went on a walk to dinner and after a few stops that didn’t work out, we landed on the Ponte Marghreta Bridge where Joey got down on one knee in the middle of Rome. It was beautiful and everything we could have dreamed of. Headed to a small bar to celebrate and enjoy the Spanish steps
Tell us a little bit about your overall aesthetic/styling for the day? what were your sources of inspiration? Any must follow accounts, blogs, Pinterest pages? etc.
We loved the way Italy made us feel. We were inspired by the romance, earthiness, delicious food, greenery and excitement in southern Italy where we stayed post engagement (Sorrento). We wanted to incorporate the coolness of California (where I am from) and the sunsets of Long Island. (Hence the gold hour). We are water people, so the closer we could be to the water the better.
What was your first dance song?
Green Eyes - Coldplay. I always loved how this song made me feel, and Joey always compliments me on my green eyes. It was an easy choice!
A memorable moment?
Stopping right before I walked down the aisle. I was able to get the best glimpse of my future. My husband waiting for me, my dad on my arm and all our friends and family surrounding us. Joey and I locked eye and didn’t let go, crying, laughing, the ceremony was truly one for the books and something we will never forget. It was truly amazing.
We also had the most fun ever on the dance floor. We always plan Taking Back Sunday’s song, cute without the E, and when it came on as the last song, everyone went crazy. Joey and I got thrown in the air. The band ended up posting about it a few days post wedding.
Any advice for our brides-to-be?
Soak it in!!! I kept telling myself to not get too overwhelmed or worked up over the small things. Take a moment during your wedding day every few minutes and look around and be grateful. It is truly the most amazing day. I felt the luckiest ever.
What was the process like working with Leave Her Wilder and purchasing your gowns online for your bridesmaids?
Incredible!! From start to finish Greer had all of us in mind when the girls were choosing their dresses. She answered all our questions individually and made sure it was in line with my vision. The turnaround time was amazing and the dresses are incredible. Everyone felt so beautiful, comfortable in their dresses. Couldn’t have asked for a better experience. Thank you!
Tell us a little more about your bridesmaids. How did the Leave Her Wilder gowns fit and drape? what did you think of the hand-dyed and 100% natural fabric?
I will 100% way to listen to Greer and her teams recommendation on style, size and fit. They are the experts. All the girls did that and they turned out perfect. They draped exactly how we imagined, flowy, comfortable and elegant (with a little sass and sexiness we all want). The color was more than we imagined and perfect. So thankful I chose Leave Her Wilder. When you get to have all your dresses from the same hand dyed fabric, it takes out the worry that the dresses will come out different colors. Couldn’t have asked for a better dress for my girls!
Congratulations Madison & Joey! Your day looked absolutely stunning and so much fun! We're so happy you chose Leave Her Wilder gowns for your bridesmaids, thank you for making us feel like part of the day! xx
