Sharna & Todd
Hey Babe! What are you and your Husbands names?
Todd Ouston & Sharna Maluga (Now Ouston)
Where do you live?
We live in Gracemere Central Queensland, which is located just outside of Rockhampton.
Tell us your meeting story!
Todd and I met and became friends in late 2009. We got to know each other more and chatted every now and again then by late 2010 we started hanging out a lot. The both of us liked each other but neither of us wanted to admit it. I was 13 when we started going out and Todd was 15 and we have been together for 11 years.
Talk us through the proposal?
Todd proposed to me in October 2019 at the gender reveal of our daughter. We used my dads 1969 Chevrolet Belair car to do a burnout at my parents place - when the burnout started, we were covered in purple smoke (meaning we were having a girl) we were so excited to be having one of each gender as we had already had our son.
I was choking as the smoke was getting really thick, and started too walk away totally not realising that Todd was down on one knee asking me to marry him. He stood up, pulled me back holding the ring in my face. Naturally I just balled my eyes out, he never asked and I never said yes - I think both question and answer was obvious.
What was your styling for the day, and where did you get your inspiration?
When it came to our wedding day I knew exactly what I wanted. Minimalistic, Earthy and Natural with a hint of glamour & class. I wanted our wedding to represent as much about US as it possibly could. Down to the Aus natives with pops of colour, the earthy tone of the bridesmaids and groomsmen outfits, Todd is very casual which is why his outfit was what it was. Natural earthy tones which is why the decorations of the ceremony and reception were what they were.
Every single detail was well thought out and planned and it represented who we are as individuals and as a couple. To us, it couldn’t have been more perfect.
What was your first dance song?
God took his time on you - Casey Barnes
And your 'walking down the aisle' song?
From this moment you’re still the one - Caleb & Kelsey
A memorable moment?
My most favourite moment would have to be our first dance. Todd isn’t a dancer and so our first dance was infact our first dance. Todd has never ever danced with me before, and to dance together on our wedding day for the very first time was definitely one of the most memorable parts for me. A moment I will cherish forever.
Any advice for brides to be?
My advice for future brides would be to have fun. Have fun wedding planning and have fun on the most treasurable day of your life.
Don’t let the pressure and stress of wedding planning and the unknown get to you. You can never be too prepared and from my experience preparation is the key to a stress free wedding.
You have the ability to make this whole process the best time of your life. What will be will be. The only person stress and being overwhelmed will affect is yourself.
Our wedding day was forecast to be 100% thunderstorms the whole day. And it was correct. 2 hours before I was due to walk down the aisle, I had to re plan our whole wedding. Move our whole ceremony indoors, our whole reception indoors. I got a little upset because we had planned what our wedding would be for 18 months but I didn’t let it bother me at all, because either way I was getting married. I loved the outcome of our wedding and I would not change one single thing.
I absolutely loved the wedding planing process, I had a vision of exactly what I wanted and my vendors executed it perfectly.
How did you find the Leave Her Wilder process?
The process was great. Greer and the team couldn’t be more beautiful, they are so lovely and always there for any questions we had. The most daunting part for us was not being able to try the dresses on before ordering especially given we were buying the dresses from a different country lol. But I was so drawn to LHW. The colours, the unique styles of the dresses. I just couldn’t look past them. The ordering process was so easy. The girls all ordered based on their measurements and we ordered with 12 week lead time just incase we needed to alter. But they couldn’t have fit more perfect. I would order these dresses 1000 times over. They played a major part in the uniqueness of our wedding.
The fabric was so beautiful it was light and cool and the colour was AMAZING. The light gave it so many different tones I just can’t explain how much we loved it.
Congratulations babes!! What a beautiful wedding, thank you so much for being a Leave Her Wilder bride! xxx
